SHS Students Learn Automotive Repair Skills

SHS automotive instructor Bill Butler teaches second-year automotive students about engine performance, engine fuel and spark systems.

During the lesson, students learned about connecting an oscilloscope to a fuel injector to show what the electrical signal from the computer looks like when the fuel injector is commanded to inject fuel in the engine. This  information is helpful in understanding how the system works and for troubleshooting drivability concerns.

This class, offered to Sullivan High School students, is part of the Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair Certificate from Ivy Tech. Students who complete all required courses have the opportunity to earn the certificate from Ivy Tech while studying at SHS.
